Social Developers London November 2012

  • November 14, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Social Developers London returns on our new monthly night (second Wednesday). You may know us as Facebook Developer Garage London - we're the same people putting on the same great events, at our new venue at Central Working in Google Campus (close to Old Street, Shoreditch High Street, Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations), right in the heart of London's digital and start-up hub, Silicon Roundabout.

Our guest talks this time come from Craig Blagg, creative technologist at Ogilvy & Mather, who will tell us about his experiences of using Facebook video and , former organiser of London Twitter Developer Nest and now an SDL committee member, who will run down the latest Twitter API changes: how developers can adapt to new restrictions and what it means for third party apps. Folks from Twilio will also be present to give us a live demo of the API to their useful telephony service.

Committee member and Facebook application developer Eamonn Gahan will take us through all the important Facebook platform updates since our last event, freelance developer and our secretary Dave Nattriss will cover the hottest apps and pages on Facebook, and starting everything off, SDL Chairman and host for the evening Todd Chaffee will give us a quick update on general Facebook and other social platform news. The talks will begin at 7pm, with a break halfway through for food, drink and networking.

We’ll have our now regular 'show and share' section later on where you can give a quick talk/demo about whatever you’ve been working on - just sign up on the board at the front of the talk room to share anything Facebook or social media related with the audience. You can talk for up to two minutes, and can show slides from your computer if you’ve got a VGA connection, or use a browser on ours.

Couldn't make it last time or never been before? Here's a quick video report giving you a flavour of the event - there's much more information (including video recordings and slides from most of the talks) on our website:

Our events often sell out within days, so be quick to buy your ticket(s). We'll go for after-drinks at The Windmill around the corner for those that want to wind down afterwards.

Tickets are available at http://sdlnovember2012-meetupeventdescription.eventbrite.co.uk - you must buy in advance to guarantee entry on the night. All tickets are priced at just £5, which includes pizza that will be served during the evening. A cash bar will be available for alcoholic and soft drinks.

If you miss out on or can't make this one, we look forward to seeing you at our next event, taking place in January.

As always we are grateful for the sponsorship of our events - thanks to our new venue sponsors Central Working. If your organisation is interested in sponsoring us, please contact us for more information.

As an organizer, I'm biased, but I thought the talks were great. Syd from Twilio was especially fun and their API rocks.
